    Harrisburg University and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are currently seeking proposals for presentations at the 2026 Central PA GIS Day on Wednesday, November 18 at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology.  

    Geographic information systems (GIS) are all around us, connecting geography with data to create new insights and innovation. This is a unique opportunity to connect with practicing and aspiring GIS professionals and share your technical knowledge or showcase a project or initiative to your peers within the geospatial community. 

    Now in its 18th year, Central PA GIS Day has grown into one of the region’s top events for GIS professionals and students interested in GIS. Attending the conference is free and the event is presented in a hybrid format to accommodate both virtual and on-site attendees. 

    Presentations 

    • Sessions are 40 minutes in length (30-minute presentation and 10 minute Q&A).  

    • All speakers are required to be in-person at Harrisburg University at 326 Market Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101. 

    • Sessions will be streamed live for virtual attendees 

    • Target audience is both professionals in a variety of GIS fields and high school youth exploring a future in a GIS field

    Keynote 

    Harrisburg University and OA are excited to welcome Michael Hermann, Founder and Lead Cartographer of Purple Lizard Maps, as this year’s featured keynote speaker. 

    Michael founded Purple Lizard Maps in 1997 to become a leader in recreational map design. Purple Lizard Maps has received several design awards from the leading international network of developers, researchers and educators in the field of Cartography, Geography and GIScience. 

    The deadline to submit your Call for Proposal is Sept. 7, 2026 at 11:59pm.
